I am 79 years of age and a member (the oldest) of the Alan Johnson singers. I have enjoyed singing all my life but never had a lesson until, when I was 64; one of my presents was a cheque to pay for my first three leassons. Until then I would not dream of singing in public and was nervous of making enen a short speech. I have found that not only has my singing and speaking improved but so has my self confidence in all aspects of my life. My only regret is that I did not start earlier in my life. Apart from the pleasure I get from singing it is very nice when people from the audience approach and say how much they have enjoyed listening to our group as a whole. Many people tell us how good it is to listen to “Live Singing” and come to hear us again and again. You don’t have to join a group in order to sing but I enjoy being in our group.
